Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake

You will be picked up between 4:30 am and 5:00 am. After approximately two hours of driving, we will stop in Mollepata to enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing to Challacancha (3,800 m), the starting point of our hike.

From here, we begin a 3-hour trek to our base camp in Soraypampa (3,900 m), where a nutritious lunch will be served.

In the afternoon, we hike to the famous Humantay Lake (4,220 m), enjoying spectacular views along the way. You will have enough time to explore this unique location and take photos before descending back to Soraypampa.

Tonight, we will stay in comfortable panoramic domes, offering incredible views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Collpapampa

At 5:00 am, we will enjoy a hearty breakfast to prepare for the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek.

Departing from Soraypampa, we will ascend for approximately 3 hours to reach the highest point of the trek, Abra Salkantay (4,650 m).

Along the way, passing through Salkantaypampa and Soyrococha, we will discover a beautiful small alpine lagoon before beginning our descent.

We will descend for about 3 hours to Wacracmachay (3,800 m), where we will enjoy lunch. Afterward, we continue descending for another 3 hours until reaching our campsite in Collpapampa.

Day 3: Collpapampa – Lucmabamba

Today we begin a 5.5-hour trek through the lush jungle landscape, following a trail with both ascents and descents.

This section of the trek takes us through the cloud forest, where we will encounter coffee plantations, orchids, and numerous native plants used for medicinal purposes.

We will reach our lunch location where we can rest and also enjoy a coffee tour, learning about the local cultivation and production process.

In the afternoon, there is an optional visit to the Cocalmayo Hot Springs located in Santa Teresa (not included).

We return to our campsite around 6:00 pm to enjoy tea time followed by a freshly prepared dinner.

Day 4: Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes

Today we ascend for approximately 3 hours, enjoying spectacular views of the Santa Teresa Valley until reaching the Inca archaeological site of Llactapata (2,700 m), located directly across from Machu Picchu.

From here, we descend for about 1 hour and 30 minutes to our lunch spot before continuing the hike toward Hidroelectrica (1,800 m).

Along the way, we will observe the Intihuatana, an ancient rock used by the Incas as a solar clock to mark the winter solstice and the beginning of the agricultural season.

From Hidroeléctrica you will have two options:

Walk approximately 3 hours to Aguas Calientes along the railway tracks, surrounded by lush jungle scenery.

Take the train (optional – approximately $39 USD).

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, the town located at the base of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant and spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will wake up early, around 4:30 am, and begin our hike toward Machu Picchu, which takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

First, we descend for about 30 minutes to the Puente Ruinas, where you must present your original passport and Machu Picchu ticket.

After crossing Puente Ruinas, we climb the stairs for about one hour to reach the main entrance of Machu Picchu at approximately 6:00 am.

Your hotel will store your luggage while you visit Machu Picchu, so you only need to bring a small daypack with essentials, as large backpacks are not permitted inside the citadel.

There is also an optional bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, which takes about 20 minutes and costs approximately $12 USD.

Once inside Machu Picchu, your guide will take you to the best panoramic viewpoint for the classic Machu Picchu photo, followed by a 2.5-hour guided tour through the most important sectors of the citadel.

During this tour, you will learn about the history, architecture, and culture of this extraordinary Andean sanctuary.

Your total time in Machu Picchu will depend on your return transportation to Cusco (train or car).
